Walking and eating Paris

Paris walking and food trip was prepared by a French colleague from UK ( saved us hours searching blogs) , who recommended to stay in eastern part of Paris near center in the Place de la Bastille

... and do the must-see places like the Arc de Triomphe,

walking down to Champs Elysees

take a right turn to continue to Trocadero from which there is a great view of Eiffel Tower.

Then we moved to Louvre (quite expensive) so we just checked it from outside with inside for more artsy people to see stuff like the Mona Lisa or others.

As recommended we went for food hunting to St Germain des Pres has got some of the more up market bars and restos that are  not necessarily much more expensive than anywhere else in Paris.

Its great to just walk around Notre Dame on the side streets.

Went to see Notre Dame and crossed the river in Pont Des Arts , nice bridge with loads of locks for love.

checked on Hotel de Ville, a pretty place with an ice rink in winter.

We walked up to Sacre Coeur for the best view of Paris for free ( unlike Eiffel Tower) and than wandered down the streets to get some good food catch.

Pompidou is not necessarily to go in, but should be seen at least. Macaroons was an eye-catcher for Anna of course :) no doubt....

Walking streets back home we could not NOT STOP in a local bakery and get some fuel for a sweet tooth Anna the Foodie.

Yet cooking our own food at home and have fun was just the best way to end up the day before falling to a bed completely exhausted. We wanted to ride a bike in a night Paris, but obviously no energy left, we woke up just the next day :)

Places recommended to us that we could not visit were:

  •  Angelina’s Tea House, that has the best hot chocolate in the world, some awesome cakes and macaroons.
  • The batteau-mouches (restaurants on the seine) are cool and different.
  • The place to go for a drink or bars is around the Latin quarter, near Notre Dame.
  •  Also Galeries Lafayette and  Printemps for Printemps some simples.
  •  Boat tours (Near Eiffel tower) quite nice if it’s a nice day, can be cold.
  • Saint Chappelle  by far the best church in Paris. It is literally stunning. Notre Dame is grand but this is beautiful
  • Jardins de Luxembourg are supposed to be nice, also
  • Les Invalides
  •  Concorde
  • Place Van Dome for jewelry
