Coron is Sweeter the Second Time Around
This trip was heavily affected by the Pope. It was the time when Pope Francis visited Manila and cancellation of flights was a common practice. After spending 3 days with Vladko and Katka in Bohol a weekend after we decided to take them to Coron. We got there on Saturday Jan 10, after being in hotel Remington at the Manila Airport overnight waiting for the early morning rescheduled flight from Friday afternoon.
When we arrived we quickly checked-in in the Seahorse Hotel, because we still had some nights to redeem from some weeks before. Since Vladko and Katka could not get to Coron at all and had to stay at our house in Ortigas, we went diving. We dove inside East Tangat Gunboat Wreck. During the lunch break between dives, we went snorkeling and took pictures in this amazing limestone rocky coast of Sangat Island.
Second dive was at the Lusong Gunboat Wreck. We did not visit Coral Garden (best diving spot in the area) because our dive master thought there is strong current.
Next day we went snorkeling with our favorite boatman Kuya Rey arranged via the receptionist Alvin of the Seahorse Hotel. We went early morning to Syete Pecados at Maquinit Islands. We were still waiting for our friends to arrive to Busuanga. The snorkeling there turned out to be the best of all, with lots of corals, small and mid-sized fishes and harmless Jelly fishes.
We picked Vladko and Katka at the Coron Sea Port at their hotel- Coron Gateway Hotel & Suites right next to the local Coron Public Market. Then we continued with kuya Rey to 3 places.
First one is the Skeleton Wreck, which is nicely accessible even with just a snorkel.
We had lunch cooked by the boatman at the adjacent beach shed.
Then we went around the same island snorkeling in nice shallow reef.
Then we went to Coral Garden delimited by a red flag for a private property. The last place we visited was Twin Lagoons. We started swimming from the lagoon with a hut through halocline waters during sunset, underneath the rocky gate to the other lagoon where we lazed around.
The same day we managed to watch the scenic sunset, the boys from Mount Tapyas View Deck
and Anna from the Seahorse Hotel's terrace.
Next day in the morning we also snorkeled from CYC Beach quarter way around the Island following the reef.
After that when we finished CYC beach was already full of tourists so we continued to a docked shed of the Balinsasayaw Resort. We made some videos jumping from it to water with vladko. It has a nice reef to explore, with nice clams and preserved corals and mostly small fishes.
However we could not stay for ling, because we had a flight back to Manila, so we asked our boatmen to take as back to Busuanga and later pick Vladko and Katka.
