Pulau Tenggol Just Before the Monsoon Season
We wanted to enjoy the end of the season diving and snorkeling in Palau Tenggol in November 2015 with our good friend Mirek and his family which resided in Kuala Lumpur. Plans changed, Mirek had to travel to Europe, so if road trip doesn't push through. just week before and so we had to get overnight bus from Kuala Lumpur by bus to Dungun town.
We arrived after 4 am and the town was still sleepy and dark , but we were lucky to be found by taxi driver Jeck (tel. 0060199182426).
He transformed from a taxi driver in just few minutes into personal driver for a night guided town tour and a night visit of the local beach, companion for early breakfast.
And after few days to almost a family member. We spent even our free time with him, did shopping together and considered him as an adopted uncle :)
We had troubles getting from Dungun to the only resort in Pulau Tenggol, there were no public boats going there, and the owner of resort didn't have planned transport that day.
So we stayed that day with Jeck, stayed overnight in local Dungun hotel by the beach watched beautiful sunrise on the local beach which had been full of machinery to protect the local residents from stormy seas getting too close to their houses.
We departed to Tenggol in a speed boat next day. The boat ride was exciting in the beginning, huge 3 meter wave splashed over the boat and made everybody wet, what made Anna laugh so hard, everybody else was petrified. Sharing video from the way back- much better mastered.
Upon arrival we asked about best place to snorkel and to our surprise hotel staff told us just to go back to the beach and that there are sharks right near the rocks on the right side of the cove. They were there and were not shy at all.
The food was really good and the portions were enormous.
After sunset and rain even crabs were somehow friendly.
We had some diving trips hoping to see whale shark, but even if we did not see any, we had fun, even watched TV.
