Afternoons in High Tatras

During our 3-month long visit in Slovakia, we have spent countless afternoons exploring different areas in High Tatras. With only a few minutes drive from Poprad, we were transported to the Tatry's dramatic mountain landscapes, wildflower-filled meadows, jagged peaks, and pristine lakes and rivers.

Hrebienok is a popular starting point for hiking trips to valleys of Veľká and Malá Studená dolina or to Slavkovský štít (peak).

This was taken at Starý Smokovec - before our bus ride to Hrebienok.
Because of the pandemic, the funicular was not operational.

Lomnické sedlo, which is located at the altitude of 2,190 metres, is a place with breathtaking views.

Náučný chodník "Pramenisko" is a nature trail that is part of the almost 3.5-kilometer walking circuit. The sidewalks are made of wooden boards to walk comfortably in an otherwise difficult-to-pass wet environment.

Štrbské pleso is a picturesque mountain lake of glacial origin.
